So tonight hubby and I decided we'd go to the movie. What did we want to see? Dark Knight - again. So we take the kids to a drop off daycare type place called Adventure Kids (which the kids love to go to) and called up my mom and stepdad to see if they wanted to join us. Long shot as usually they are busy but whaddya know they're free. So we pick them up and head out to the mall.
We buy our tickets, get our sodas and candy and popcorn (and spend a small fortune) and sit down to enjoy the movie. Lights dim and the previews start to come on and.....
Fire alarm.
Not joking, the movie shuts off and the alarms are going off and strobe lights and a voice saying please go to your nearest exit blah blah blah. We're pretty sure some kid pulled the alarm somewhere but we slowly make our way out along with everyone else. Now to give you an idea of where we are this mall is quite large (second largest in Texas) and the theatre is on the third floor by itself. So instead of actually going out we sort of slowly wander back towards the front of the theatre thinking surely it'll just take them a minute and things will be fine.
Ha.
So we and a bunch of other people are crammed out front by the ticket booth waiting and watching the theatre employees rushing around, talking on radios, etc etc and then finally they come towards the crowd and say "Please go down to the mall, we need you all to go on down to the mall in an orderly fashion" blah blah blah. And then right below where we were standing it felt like something exploded cuz the floor shook and there was a BOOM.
Needless to say we went downstairs.
So now the second floor near the stairs and escalators are packed and the poor info desk for the mall is getting asked what's going to happen with our tickets, etc etc, and of course they don't know and the theatre didn't tell anyone so we finally decide to head to the food court and grab a bite to eat. By now though there's no way we can see the movie - cuz they'd probably just wait until the next closest showing once they're back up and running and the movie is 2.5 hours long and our kids have by now already been at this daycare thing for an hour and it's about $10 an hour to have them there. Ya with me? So my mom and I go to the book store (I figure I'll get the third book in the Twilight saga) and hubby and my stepdad to to Radio Shack. So mom and I are putzing around in the book store, I haven't bought my book yet, and hubby calls me.
Noah, my son, is throwing a fit at the daycare and we need to go get him.
*headdesk*
I drop the book cuz now there's no time to wait in line and off we go. Had we been watching the movie we'd have been about half way through it at this point so in hindsight it's good the fire alarm went off. I'm assuming that if we go back tomorrow and show them our ticket stub that will be good enough cuz damnit we paid for those tickets and we're gonna see that damn movie. Oh and on the way out we pass a firetruck and ask one of the firemen if there really is a fire and he says no they're having control panel issues now (nothing will turn back on cuz the control panel still says fire). Frankly if that's the truth then what the hell shook the floor? That's the second time I've heard a boom and the floor shook at that place and never found out what it was.
So not only did I not get to see Dark Knight again or get any sort of a real dinner (popcorn and a couple chicken nuggets from Chick-Fil-A) but I didn't even get my book!
Yeah so put this behind a cut cuz wow it got long.
I is not happy. Friday can end now.
