Moonlight and Shadows - Friday sucks

Friday sucks
So tonight hubby and I decided we'd go to the movie. What did we want to see? Dark Knight - again. So we take the kids to a drop off daycare type place called Adventure Kids (which the kids love to go to) and called up my mom and stepdad to see if they wanted to join us. Long shot as usually they are busy but whaddya know they're free. So we pick them up and head out to the mall.

We buy our tickets, get our sodas and candy and popcorn (and spend a small fortune) and sit down to enjoy the movie. Lights dim and the previews start to come on and.....

Fire alarm.

Not joking, the movie shuts off and the alarms are going off and strobe lights and a voice saying please go to your nearest exit blah blah blah. We're pretty sure some kid pulled the alarm somewhere but we slowly make our way out along with everyone else. Now to give you an idea of where we are this mall is quite large (second largest in Texas) and the theatre is on the third floor by itself. So instead of actually going out we sort of slowly wander back towards the front of the theatre thinking surely it'll just take them a minute and things will be fine.

Ha.

So we and a bunch of other people are crammed out front by the ticket booth waiting and watching the theatre employees rushing around, talking on radios, etc etc and then finally they come towards the crowd and say "Please go down to the mall, we need you all to go on down to the mall in an orderly fashion" blah blah blah. And then right below where we were standing it felt like something exploded cuz the floor shook and there was a BOOM.

Needless to say we went downstairs.

So now the second floor near the stairs and escalators are packed and the poor info desk for the mall is getting asked what's going to happen with our tickets, etc etc, and of course they don't know and the theatre didn't tell anyone so we finally decide to head to the food court and grab a bite to eat. By now though there's no way we can see the movie - cuz they'd probably just wait until the next closest showing once they're back up and running and the movie is 2.5 hours long and our kids have by now already been at this daycare thing for an hour and it's about $10 an hour to have them there. Ya with me? So my mom and I go to the book store (I figure I'll get the third book in the Twilight saga) and hubby and my stepdad to to Radio Shack. So mom and I are putzing around in the book store, I haven't bought my book yet, and hubby calls me.

Noah, my son, is throwing a fit at the daycare and we need to go get him.

*headdesk*

I drop the book cuz now there's no time to wait in line and off we go. Had we been watching the movie we'd have been about half way through it at this point so in hindsight it's good the fire alarm went off. I'm assuming that if we go back tomorrow and show them our ticket stub that will be good enough cuz damnit we paid for those tickets and we're gonna see that damn movie. Oh and on the way out we pass a firetruck and ask one of the firemen if there really is a fire and he says no they're having control panel issues now (nothing will turn back on cuz the control panel still says fire). Frankly if that's the truth then what the hell shook the floor? That's the second time I've heard a boom and the floor shook at that place and never found out what it was.

So not only did I not get to see Dark Knight again or get any sort of a real dinner (popcorn and a couple chicken nuggets from Chick-Fil-A) but I didn't even get my book!

Yeah so put this behind a cut cuz wow it got long.

I is not happy. Friday can end now.

Children should be velcro'd to walls. Trufax.

Did you ever find out what that explosion/bang was? Good thing it wasn't terrorists attacking the food court. Cuz.. you know, it could happen. What better way to strike fear into the hearts of millions of americans than by destroying Mr. Tubesteak and New York Fries. :)

You shall get to see the movie again. I'm waving my wand here.. srsly.

Nope no clue what the boom was. Second time I've had it happen at that theatre though and never found out what the first one was either. A fireman outside said there was no fire so... who knows.

I only wanted to go worship at Heath's alter again. Was that so wrong?

Worshipping at a male alter can NEVER be wrong.. unless it's Wayne Newton. That man must die. :)

I still haven't seen the movie. I'm hoping I'll be able to at the end of the month, or mebbe borrow some money off a friend until my payday and go sooner :) Cuz I know it'll be good. I mean, I just KNOW IT! Even if it DOESN'T have Harley Quinn. And even if I DID just find out that Chris Nolan doesn't want to put Catwoman in the third movie cuz it's too light in his 'dark brooding batman' movies. *pout*

Ledger is god. Absolutely amazing Joker. Just brilliant. I rarely pay to see a movie in the theatre twice but this one, oh yeah.

Such a good movie. But yeah could have done without the drama. Might try again tomorrow, we'll see.

I wanted to go see the movie! Though I'm calling first to find out if Summit released the Twilight trailer to our theater :)

Mayhaps Noah knew something wasn't right at the theater and that's why he was flipping out?

I'd have called and complained from the car. They should honor the tickets tomorrow night too since it wasn't your fault that this crap happened. If they don't raise a fit with them.
celticangel76 From: [info]celticangel76 Date: August 2nd, 2008 02:36 am (UTC) (Link)
Oh don't worry about that. I will raise serious hell. They'll let me see it without paying again I can guarantee.

Sad thing is - I'm slightly more pissed I didn't get my book. Might have to run up to Walmart and see if they have any. Or just wait and go pick up 3 and 4 tomorrow.

I've seen them all over Walmart around here. I was stalking to see if they'd put out the fourth one any earlier. Since they put out the HP book early the once, I've secretly hoped to find Breaking Dawn a day early too. But then again, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride ;)

I'll be going for book 4 tomorrow myself, then probably stay up all night reading it.

Yeah I'm going to hold off until tomorrow I think. Or maybe Monday. Hubby is out of town so I'll have plenty of time to read both before he gets back.

Mine's on reserve duty for the weekend. Have the town's summer festival this weekend though. Kids have soccer tomorrow morning and are in some parade on Sunday.

*crosses fingers and hopes children behave... then goes to look for the duct tape, just in case*
